Ballfield billboard on Broadway
Cal’s new ballfield is celebrated at Broadway & 15th St. The beautiful billboard was donated by Crocker/Riverside parent & Cal supporter, Jim Lyons. A group of parents from our PTSA raised the money and completed the labor on the ballfield.
Fifty-two Cal students received High Point Reader Certificates for the 2nd quarter. The students enjoyed a pizza lunch, hosted by Mrs. Vann and sponsored by Cal’s PTSA. Keep reading and join the “Bear Club Million Word Readers”

Cal mathletes led by Mrs. McCormick (back left) finished in 1st place at the March Mathletes competition. The team has been working during lunch breaks and after school throughout the year to reach this goal. CONGRATULATIONS!

Gleeks sing the blues away
Gleeks, the musical, was a hit with the audience in March. The Cal Drama Club wrote and performed the musical under the direction of Ms. Long. Students sang contemporary songs, like the TVshow Glee.

Readers rewarded again
The Third Quarter Acclerated Reader Luncheon was a huge hit at Cal Middle. Students that are on pace to read over one million words this year were celebrated. Students were hosted by librarian Mrs. Vann. 50 students were treated to pizza in the library, where they received their certificates for their accomplishment.

Debaters win 6th title in 7 years
The Cal Debate team won the SCUSD Forensics Championships for the sixth time in seven years. The team has won the championships each year that Mr. Holt has guided the team through its season.
