Tdap booster (pertussis or whooping cough) will be required this fall for all incoming 7-12 graders. Why the requirement? There has been a pertussis epidemic in California since last year, if we get mass vaccination that number will go down. I will be giving Tdap to uninsured kids here and MediCAL eligible as well as Native Americans on June 2nd and 3rd during PE. A mailing will go out to all parents soon telling them about the clinic. The students will be able to get the shot without the parent present, they will have to bring in a consent which will show their eligibility as well as parent permission.
