Soccer is a big part of Land Park culture, and it is a huge activity at Cal. The boys and girls soccer teams practice hard and play harder. They have a long tradition of excellence and strong, friendly rivalries with Sutter and Brannan. But there is something else that is special about Cal’s soccer teams. They truly bring kids together from many aspects of society and forge them into teams based on friendship. Whether a middle school student is an experienced club player or someone who just wants to try out a new sport, Cal’s teams usually have a spot on the roster. Both the boys team and girls team are made up of a mixture of seventh and eighth grade students, so there is ample time for skills to improve and friendships to form.
Soccer at Cal is a spring sport, with tryouts starting in February, games through out the spring, and tournament play in May. Parents are welcome to come watch both games and practice sessions on Cal’s lush lawn. Come be a part of the action and support California Middle School’s soccer program.
