Pan-African Club
Former Cal teacher Dr. Ateh and current Cal superstar Mrs. Jackson founded the Pan-African Club. It is a club that celebrates African culture and its contributions to America. From inventors to composers, poets to singers, African American culture has influenced and continues to influence American society. Members of the Pan African club study and celebrate this influence.
Each February, the Pan African Club leads Cal’s celebration of Black History Month, This year the club put on a dinner theater, Celebrating Our Greatness, in cooperation with the UC Davis Gear Up. The performance featured gospel singers, young actors portraying African American heroes like Madame C.J. Walker, the Tuskegee Airmmen, Lewis Latimer, And Billie Holiday. The performance was followed by a delightful potluck style dinner.
